On September 5 to 7, the 2023 International Forum on Energy Transition (IFET) was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, which was attended by more than 700 outstanding enterprises in the energy industry from 25 countries and regions. Yingli Energy (China) Co., Ltd. (Yingli Solar) was invited to attend in the conference and co-found the International Energy Transformation Coalition (IETC) during the conference.

The IFET is an energy diplomacy event hosted by the National Energy Administration and an important event set out to be held on the list of outcomes of the High-Level Dialogue on Global Development during the XIV BRICS Summit in 2022. The opening ceremony of the forum officially started at the Suzhou International Conference Hotel at 9:00 a.m. on the 6th. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ren Jingdong, Deputy Administrator of the NEA. NEA Administrator Zhang Jianhua attended the ceremony and made an address.

As of the first half of this year, China’s cumulative installed capacity reached 2.11 billion kWh, of which the total installed capacity of renewable energy reached 1.322 billion kW, exceeding that of coal power for the first time, Zhang said. The country’s industrial chain and supply chain has seen significant progress, and technologies such as wind power and photovoltaics lead the international community. In the future, China will leverage its energy resource endowment to promote the efficient utilization of clean energy. China is also willing to continue to join hands other countries to seize opportunities, catalyze the energy transition, safeguard global energy security, and strive to build a better community with a shared future for mankind.

The Global Clean Energy Partnership Initiative was then released and a ceremony was held to launch the IETC. Led by Wu Qingwen, Mayor of Suzhou, Yingli Solar and other 41 initiators took the stage and pressed the start button on the screen, announcing the official establishment of the IETC.

As a pioneer in China’s PV industry, Yingli Solar is honored to be invited to attend this forum again and, as one of the initiators, to launch the IETC with many industry colleagues and partners under the guidance of the NEA,” said Yingli Solar. “In the future, Yingli Solar will actively respond to the NEA’s call and give full play to its role as the initiator, advocate, and leader of the coalition. Capitalizing on our 25 years of industry experience, we will contribute more Yingli Solar wisdom and approach to the sustainable development of the coalition, as well as building a clean, safe, and efficient energy system and the strengthening the global collaboration in energy governance and security.”

The opening ceremony was also attended and addressed by Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency; Xu Kunlin, Governor of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province; Cao Lubao, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Suzhou Municipal Committee; Csaba Lantos, Minister of Energy of Hungary; Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan; and Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum. The ceremony also received video messages from Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan.
